How does one know when their original license date or when they first received their license?

Re: Original CHL
It really does not matter when you received it if it is your first one. The only thing is that it will expire on your Birthday between four and five years from the date you received it depending on when your birthday is. After that it will be on a five year cycle of your birthday.

Thanks Jerry, but I'm still curious on how to find out? I know I was originally licensed in 1997 but how can I confirm that? I have had a number of students ask me the same thing...

Re: Original CHL
I still have the copy of the paperwork I filed for my first CHL. It won't tell me when I got the first license but it will be close because as I remember I got it exactly 60 days after I mailed it. DPS may have it as part of your file but I suspect they would not like a request for the information just for curiosity unless you have a real need for it. If you really want to know call them and ask the guy to access your file and see if the information is in your file. I don't know of any other way if you did not keep a copy of your paperwork, sorry.

If your original is old enough, the issued date is next to your photo. They eliminated that on the new design.thatguy wrote:How does one know when their original license date or when they first received their license?
