Full Civic Literacy Exam (from our 2008 survey)

Are you more knowledgeable than the average citizen? The average score for all 2,508 Americans taking the following test was 49%; college educators scored 55%. Can you do better? Questions were drawn from past ISI surveys, as well as other nationally recognized exams.

The levee one got me. The correct answer seemed a little too "slick".

This little nugget of information was particularly telling on "officeholders":
Only 32% can properly define the free enterprise system, and only 41% can identify business profit as “revenue minus expenses.”
No wonder our economy is so messed up.

29 out of 33 correctly — 87.88 %

And I had the right answer to two and picked the wrong one after reconsideration, something that as a technical trainer I have told me students not to do, over and over.

I missed a couple of history questions, one of which had to do with FDR, the Lyndon B. Johnson/Jimmuh Carter/B. Hussein Obumbler of his time, so I am not at all displeased.

29 out of 33 correctly _ 87.88% missed on: public good/ levee, tax equals spending ( picked zero debt-which would be correct if only referring to a specific year), Supreme Court vs. Roosevelt, Lincoln debate
