So my drivers license arrived today...

Post by JALLEN »

issued on July 2. I immediately went to log on and start the application process.

Unfortunately, the website kept reporting that it could not verify the information in the system, DL, SSAN, audit number, DOB etc. I re-entered twice, each time using care to be sure I was entering the right information. Finally, after the 3rd attempt, I got this message:

Error

We are sorry, but you have exceeded the maximum number of login attempts. Please try again after 24 hours.

This is not what I expected I actually had a better response when I had the CA driver's license but no CHL-100.

What might be the problem? Anyone have a guess?

Dunno, but I would shoot them an email. IIRC there is a form on the website for doing that. Last time I did it I got a surprisingly quick answer from an actual human, and it was an an odd hour too, not during normal business hours.

*Edit* Just saw you had a Cali license before. I'm not sure what the issue is unless you already created an account with your old information.

Is your new drivers licence number different from your previous DL or ID? I had a State ID card when I applied for the CHL and got my DL just a short time later but I must still use the State ID # to log into the system.

A year or so ago, when sale of our home seemed imminent, I applied for a Texas CHL, but never got here to take the course. That app expired, so I am starting from scratch.

Now I'm here, with D/L, etc. and can't get the system to let me start the process.

I spoke to a nice young fellow at DPS who said even though it's the same agency, D/L and CHL are separate databases, and because of confidentiality concerns, can't go from one to the other. He did verify that all my info was in and correct, or at least the same as the D/L, so it may be the left hand doesn't know there is a right hand just yet.

JALLEN, I know you are anxious to get your CHL. Give the system a day or so to catch up and give it a try. Remember you are back in the land of mosey along rather than Heck bent for leather like CA. You still can carry in your vehicle under MPA. Oh yes, welcome back to Texas pardner.

Thanks. I have UT and FL permits so I am good to go. It's one thing to wait after you are in line. It's another thing entirely to wait to get in line!

I wish some of the drivers were in the land of mosey. Lots of folks around here should have gone to the bathroom before they left so they wouldn't have to be in such an extreme hurry to get somewhere. I guess people don't have grandmothers anymore.
