Does anyone else have a problem with parents and families having to pay less money than those without children and/or who are unmarried? Shouldn't this be stopped as it is socialist and the very definition of communism? Why should I have to pay more than my neighbor because they have kids? Why should I have to pay for public schools and parks that they will have for their kids to attend? Why should I have to pay for high school football stadiums in other parts of the state?
Does anyone else feel that they are being forced to pay more for these people?

Imagine if we both make an equal amount of money at our jobs and live in identical houses. However I have a family and you are a young single man/woman who joins me for dinner. We both get the same meal and exactly the same drink. When the waiter brings us our separate checks, mine is substantially less than yours and when you ask the waiter why, he says "Well he has a family, so he needs it more."
That is what the government is doing now to us. It is unjust and not fair to those of us who do not have families or want families. We are forced to pay for those entitlement programs, and we pay more than others who have families. I brought up the mention of football staduims as in Texas football is an institution and high school football is more popular than in other states.
I am thinking that if I am forced to pay for the education of my neighbors kids, than they should not use my tax dollars to pay for a $60,000,000 stadium. http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/business/20 ... l-stadium/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I would rather get a tax refund than spend a dime more on someone else's kid. Wouldn't you agree?

Interesting, do you feel the same way about the homeowners interest tax credit? Is that "fair" for folks who live in apartments.
I truly understand your frustration, but I don't feel any part of our tax system is "fair". It won't be fair until we get a "fair tax". In President Obama's eyes I'm rich. I'm at a higher tax rate than most Americans. I have a massive 1,600 square foot house, have bills like the rest of the country, have a family of five and take every deduction I can find. If Obama says I'm rich enough and don't deserve that tax credit either, than so be it.
Don't get bothered by silly old me though, I'm one of those wackos that believe only land owners should be allowed to vote.

I'm in the boat that you speak of and yes, I do think that it's unfair. It's unfair just like the marriage tax is unfair. Or like inheritance rights are unfair for those people that can't be legally married.
Would I vote to stop it? I can see that, sure.
Look, one thing is generically true about taxpayers. They want to less of someone else's benefits. They want their benefits kept the same or increased. This, in conjunction with a very special-interest oriented system is a large part of the reason nothing gets done other than lowering taxes and increasing benefits. It's partly how we got to a massive deficit.. Our economy couldn't keep up with our government's ability to consume dollars.
I'm sure we can find a benefit that you get that I don't. The current tax system is inherently unfair.
In regard to your other questions:
Parks aren't just for kids. If you don't like them, when is the last city counsel meeting that you attended?
Football... Well, Texas is a bit football nuts, but that's a whole different topic.

Think about it this way: Someone paid for the school that you attended. Maybe you should contribute to that system. It's a much harder question if your kids are old and you've already paid for their education.Tecumseh wrote: Why should I have to pay for public schools and parks that they will have for their kids to attend?
