I know this seems all the rage now and there are lots of videos out. I know we have the right. I see that side of things. I know we should be able to and not get hassled. But here is a bit of a lesson from when CHL first passed her in Texas. ( lets not get into the god, guns my rights, issue please ) I have always been a pro gun. Ask my wallet :)

Back when CHL first passed it was a big deal. HUGE for us gun owners, but so off the radar of most companies. My company was clueless till a "I got my rights and I am going to take my gun to work employee" had to just flaunt that he had the right. We had ran smooth till then. He got stupid and posted things on IRRC chat and other places and at work and using work address. irritated some anti gun perso that contacted the company HR department via his work email address. POOF Gun not allows at work. They posted the 51% signs up all over. Yes, company was that clueless till this knucklehead got their attention. He then came in and bragged about how he could still carry since we did not serve hooch. And that irritated more people. And posted more on the then fledgling internet. To the point that there was something like 25 people off the internet emailed company HR department. Think way back :) Most things were dial up the modem bank and IRC. That triggered company to change signs and banned guns on Property and totally made company aware of how they could stop us from being armed. His wanting to be RIGHT cost us from being able to carry or even have in vehicle. I am fully away things have changed. But think on the I got a right to do this or that. His doing what he had a right to do and flaunting it got the anti gunners attention and got us deprived of it. They did it legal, and by the law. Had he just used his right and kept his mouth shut I would and many others would not have been deprived. The look what I can do can piss off those that can afford better lawyers then you can. I am all about rights, do not get me wrong. Trying to prove a point when you do not need to, is just going to get you on a radar for them and mess with those on your side when it is done. If the right is in place, do not flaunt it and make it a target. I totally get the others need to be made aware. That said, doing it on your own is not helping. Your just a nut case with a gun that wants his rights. Do not be the one that got them to turn radar on. NRA, TSRA, GOA any of those JOIN, get their advice, listen. One reason why we can now carry in parking lot at work and schools. As long as ya do not work at a school. When it first passed and the idiot flaunted his right I was banned form even having it parking lot of workplace. Things have changed. HE tho did not make it better.

Well, first I understand the point you make. As far as employers go, I have always been a proponent of "Tweed's Rule vis-a-vis employment". (Which is a well stated group of rules basically saying shut up about guns at work.)

However, I will quibble with the use of the word "right" in terms of "standing up for my rights". I am a strong supporter of my rights in terms of government entities. However, there is no "right" to carry at work for a private employer. The 2nd Amendment does not apply to private property, it applies to government entities.
