Houston Zoo...improper posting?

Post by MikeStone »

The zoo has a compliant sign, but Texas 30.06 site says it's invalid because the zoo is on city property. I didn't carry. I would think an LEO encounter would not end in my favor even though I might be exonerated in court. What is the best choice? Carry and risk it? Make it an issue with zoo management?

I don't know about the Houston Zoo, but I carry every time I go to the Dallas Zoo. It's city owned (but privately managed by a non-profit) and is 30.06 posted. I ignore the 30.06, which can't be seen till after you've paid and gotten in, and carry away. Concealed is concealed, after all. And while I don't WANT to be a test case, I'll risk taking the ride.

Ft Worth Zoo is also improperly posted. They claim it is a school because of frequent school field trips there.

I went to the Ft. Worth zoo yesterday. I'd heard they were posted at the entrance, but they were posted at the parking lot entrance. I couldn't really tell and I wasn't gonna get out and take a closer look, but the letters didn't really look big enough to be compliant.

If city owned like the ft worth zoo is carry on just like I do here.

The ft worth zoo has a large compliant sign just past the entrance area on the left.

Big enough or not, if the Ft. Worth Zoo is city owned (as RexB & Wes state), then any 30.06 posting is non-compliant.

I have carried at the Houston Zoo. It is posted, but it is city owned and not valid. Join Texas3006.com great info.

If I am not mistaken, Ft. Worth Zoo has a school there...My wife's cousin's daughter went there for a few years. This was two or three years ago...

After further checking...

Looks like they offer a 'pre-school' a couple days a week...

The best choice is to strap it on, cover it up and shut up.
