No violation of law storing your firearm in your vehicle on your employer's parking lot. You can be terminated for violation of company policy.

Nope.

Your employer may not legally prevent you from having a gun in your car.

Depends on whether the company parking lot is in secured area...their policy states that FAA regulations pertain...

Well, they can't legally stop you from leaving the gun locked in your car, so that should not be a worry. (of course you can still be arrested and get the ride even being totally in the right) They can fire you for violating company policy. In Texas, you can get fired for just about any reason. Keep it locked in your car and don't discuss it with ANYBODY.

I've got to start typing faster. There were four replies in the time it took me to formulate a thought process and type it. That formulating stuff is getting harder and harder. :confused5

My Company is world wide. Really I dont think I will have any problrms leaving my gun in my trunk here at the The TX office.
The way I see it if they want to fire me so be it. I'll keep what I want in my trunk. It's no one business.
I just happened to to to the HR site & saw this "Weapons Policy" in the policys section.

I used to work for a company with a very strong anti firearm HR manual. I still kept it locked in the car in the parking garage while working and they never ran a search.
In a new job now and nothing in their HR manual. Big relief however still leaving gun in truck.

This is exactly what I do kjolly. There are no 30.06 signs antwhere. I keep the gun in my trunk.
I don't forsee any issues. It was that the HR manual sounded so gestopo like- so anti-gun!!!
This is why I wear a Safariland conceakment paddle holster (not a cheap holster). I love this holster. easy on & off & hugs the gun close to my body & comfortable.

My company is nationwide, but they recently (and very quietly) updated the employee manual to say that weapons are not allowed in buildings under any circumstance, or in parking lots unless specifically allowed by state law. I thought it funny that they always announce changes to the handbook and ask for people to acknowledge their review electronically, but that wasn't done in this case.

Granted, I still violate company policy if I'm armed at work, but at least I'm not defenseless on my trips to and from the office and whatever errands I run after work.

Cheers.

Thats what I do. I leave it in the car-then put it back on whan I leave. No big deal. I will still have a job that way. :cheers2:

In Texas, it is allowed by law to keep your firearm locked in your vehicle in the company parking lot. Seems you are not in violation of company policy.
