They allow hunters if there is something in season to hunt and the area commander allows it, because they don't have to.

goose wrote:This may be a digression but I think it is related. My bug-home route (getting from work to home in the event of hurricane damage, a problem arises, etc) would take me through George Bush Park/Barker Cypress Reservoir/COE here in West Katy.
1) I assume Westheimer Parkway is somehow excluded from the COE restrictions? Otherwise, every time I drive through there while carrying I am subject to arrest/fines?
2) If my assumption about driving through is okay, what about walking next to the roadway if required (roads blocked due to damage/accidents, etc)? In a true bug-home situation I intend to have a backpack with water, poncho, etc but also my EDC and probably the Kel-Tec Sub2000.

This would also apply to the roads in the Addicks reservoirs for other folks.

Thoughts?
First you are on a public right of way not a COE road so I wouldn't worry about their restrictions. There will be signage at any location that they are going to enforce the rules and regs.

This is definitely something i can get behind, and one of the many reasons I have decided not to spend much time on Lake Grapevine or Lake Lewisville since moving here in October of last year.
:iagree: I used to race with the Grapevine Sailing Club and would like to do so again. But there is no where to park within a reasonable distance of Scott's Landing that isn't on COE property. That would mean that my gun has to stay at home the days that I go there. Mine is the same type of situation that the parking lot bill solved for many working people but, of course, COE doesn't recognize any local rules.

Our church sponsors an RV outing at Hickory Creek every Fall. I don't do that either. Sad. Just sad.
