Link to notify TABC of improper posting?

Post by Ipconfig »

I went to the new Gas Monkey bar and grill and they had the red 51% sign up. According to the search they should be blue. Anyone have a link to notify TABC so we can get it corrected?

You need to contact the local field office for the area it is in and let them know. They will take care of it. Here is a link to the contact info http://www.tabc.state.tx.us/contact_us/ ... office.asp" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

So no online form to submit? Not too keen on calling in.

Why? They are very nice to deal with. Just call the local field enforcement office and let them know.

Ditto what Keith said. It's their job and it gives them something to do. :mrgreen: As I understand, establishments get a packet of signs and possibly no real guidance (I don't doubt it) on what to do with it all. Most of the time they don't have a clue. :txflag: :D

But, in my humble opinion, it is their job to have a clue, so turning them in to TABC is the right thing to do.

What's the law regarding carrying at a bar with the wrong sign? It's legal, right? I'm guessing it's similar to if they had a non-compliant 30.06 sign. If caught, you'd beat the rap but probably not the ride.

Well, if they have a 51% sign up but are supposed to be the blue sign, then yes it is legal. If they have the blue sign but are supposed have the 51% sign, then no, it's not legal but the law does provide a defense to prosecution if you are arrested.

The comparison between 51% and 30.06 is a good one. A defense to prosecution in 30.05 is what protects us from signs banning handguns, unless the signs follow the 30.06 rules.

(f) It is a defense to prosecution under this section that:
(1) the basis on which entry on the property or land or in the building was forbidden is that entry with a handgun was forbidden; and
(2) the person was carrying a concealed handgun and a license issued under Subchapter H, Chapter 411, Government Code, to carry a concealed handgun of the same category the person was carrying.

Was just joking as "there's an app for that" seems to be such a common answer nowadays. As it turns out, there appears to be one. Didn't know anything about it at the time.
