I am surprised that security wasn't a lot tighter. Everyone knows Michael Bublé fans are notorious troublemakers and known for starting riots and violent confrontations in the Mosh Pit.RoyGBiv wrote:So after careful consideration I decided to carry to a concert at AAC this past weekend. We parked close enough to the door that if I had to return to the car and store the gun it would not have been any serious inconvenience. There were no posted signs and the folks with the wands only paid attention to people carrying bags that required inspection. WifeGBiv and I walked in with nothing in our hands and nobody said boo. Security theater, indeed. Michael Buble was terrific.

However, Michael DOES have quite the potty-mouth. But that voice makes it all sound quite charming.

I have read all this and formed the conclusion, this type of problems can only be fixed through the State Legislature. Fines for 30.06 posting state, city or county property is a start. We need to start talking to our State reps now.

HB508 began life trying to impose a penalty for persons and entities posting 30.06 signs where they were not allowed.MeMelYup wrote:I have read all this and formed the conclusion, this type of problems can only be fixed through the State Legislature. Introduced: http://www.legis.state.tx.us/tlodocs/83 ... 00508I.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
In the end it was not signed... I believe the Senate passed the conference committee version but the House did not.

So we press on for this next session. CHL didn't pass the first time. If we start pushing it now, the background will be there when the new legislature meets.RoyGBiv wrote:HB508 began life trying to impose a penalty for persons and entities posting 30.06 signs where they were not allowed.MeMelYup wrote:I have read all this and formed the conclusion, this type of problems can only be fixed through the State Legislature. It may not be sport, but it is definitely professionals getting paid to perform feats of athleticism. I don't know if competition is a criteria of the definition for "professional sporting event" or not.Wes wrote:You consider a circus a professional sporting event? Lol, ok. To the point, no they can't legally stop you but that doesn't mean they won't, and they will if they are checking people. I was stopped for a concert, showed Id, explained the situation, and head of security said I don't care what the law is, you aren't carrying.

I would consider the Circus to be entertainment, not sport.The Annoyed Man wrote:It may not be sport, but it is definitely professionals getting paid to perform feats of athleticism. I would think that a professional sporting event would mean:
There is competition.
It's recognized as a sport.
There could be gambling/wagers on the outcome of the event.
Something is awarded to the winner.
This does not qualify the office pool on what day and hour Klirisa will have her baby as a sport.
