I just went on-line to renew my CHL. I see that the state wants their $25 for the renewal, but I also see a $27 charge to "use" the web site. They are calling it a Tex.gov charge/fee...
Am I just not thinking correctly that it should not be MORE money to use the web site than the renewal costs?
What other methods are there to renew to avoid the web site fee???????? Thanks in advance!

I think it is $25 is you send them a check, OR $27 ($2 more) if you use the site. They are trying to cover the cost of credit card fees.Kawabuggy wrote:I just went on-line to renew my CHL. You are right! I went through with the processing and it was only the $27 that they charged me. Thanks for putting my paranoid fears at rest

You can mail the form but then you're out $0.46 for the stamp plus the cost of the envelope etc.

One other question, for those who might see this thread.. When I first got my CHL I had to give them a copy of my DD214.. Now that I am renewing they are again asking that I mail a copy of my DD214 to them. Do they not keep those on file, or have them in their records? Will I have to mail a copy every time I re-new?
