Northpark Mall AMC mixed up signs

Post by G23WAX »

Went with the wife to see a movie this weekend. The box office window had a very small, very non-compliant 30.06 sign. however, about 5 feet away was a very legal TABC "unlicensed possession of a weapon sign" (sorry not sure the legal name of that one.) Needless to say, it was weird but of course I carried.

I haven't been there. Do they sell alcohol at that theater?

It is what is known as a "blue sign."

Well they have a "policy"
Regardless of age, all guests purchasing or consuming alcohol within the theatre must show positive proof of age. Guests without a valid ID cannot purchase or consume alcohol per AMC policy.

So Id hazard a guess.. Yes

I thought he was talking about a theatre in San Antonio. I realize now he must not have been.

That sounds par for the course at AMC theaters. They're either mostly clueless or appeasing the uninformed.

Actually, they have a full bar. Therefore, they have to have a blue sign up by law since they serve alcohol. The no gun sign 30.06 sign is the optional one they chose to put up. If not compliant, you can make your own decision about that.

https://www.amctheatres.com/food-and-drink/macguffins" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The bar area operates under the MacGuffins name. Not sure if that is a separate entity or not. If not, blue sign should be the correct one. If the bar operates as a separate entity, the sign might should be red.

In my CHL class, it was taught to us that if you see the TBAC "unlicensed possession of a weapon sign", this means, licensed concealed carry welcome.

I wouldn't say "welcome". It's legal. Especially considering they have put up a 30.06 sign, albeit non compliant.
