Buick O'Truth
I just looked at http://www.theboxotruth.com/ for the first time in quite a while. If you haven't yet seen them, you might find the videos of their tests shooting an old Buick interesting. It'll sure remove any misapprehension that a car affords protection from somebody shooting at you.

Very interesting. I especially like the note about police training. When I was in the academy they taught us to roll the window down so that we were behind the door and window. They said this would provide protection for one round. While they tested the door and window seperately here, I doubt that what they taught us would work much better.

I had a shocking thing happen to me this weekend. I was at the deer lease riding around in the truck and ran up against and OLD refrigerator or cooler box of some kind. I decided to mess around and shoot a few of my guns and figured that it would make a good target. I shot my 45s, 10mm and 380.
On the bottom of it there were a couple of runners of some sort that were noticeably thicker than the side panels. I took 7 shots at the rails with the 45 using 230 grain Blazer Brass ball ammo and not one went through the metal. I found all 7 of the slugs lying on the ground near the box. Out of curiosity I drug out the 10mm. Shooting 180 TMJ, every single one penetrated and buried in the dirt on the other side. I know the 357SIG is known to be a great barrier penetrator but apparently the 10mm is as well.
Just for grins I shot a mag of 380 Silvertips and as expected they just splattered. Don't use 380 Silvertips against a barrier, they don't stand a chance.
