A question about my Sigma

Post by Seburiel »

Greetings,
It seems whenever I fire my SW40VE it 'slaps' my thumb knuckle where my thumb joins my hand. I thought at first that I was choking up too far on the grip and the slide was hitting it on the way back, but that's not it, it just seems to hit my thumb.
I've got a tiny, but painful bruise there, now (I put 200 rounds through it on Friday, 100 rounds on Saturday, and another 50 during my qualification yesterday)

is it possible that my grip is too tight, or not tight enough?

Sounds like your grip may not be tight enough. Should be a firm grip, but not a death grip either. That's just my guess.

I had the same problem with my Glock 23. I took one of my wife's nail files and slowly rounded off the "corner" so it didn't protrude quite so much. If you decide to try this, however, I recommend that you do it by hand (not with a Dremel, etc.) and check how it fits you often. It's relatively easy to remove material from a polymer frame, but harder than heck to put material back on. I also wouldn't recommend this if you think you might ever want to sell the gun.

Good luck!
Remember, in a life-or-death situation, when seconds count, the police are only minutes away.
