Question about CHL sequence of events (again)

Post by TomsTXCHL »

I took the CHL class and made an online application week 1 October submitting my signed CHL-100 as a .pdf at which time I received a Checklist with a Trace Number/Barcode. At that time I used a credit card and it was charged by "TXDPS CHL AUSTIN TX" for $72.00.

Next I made an online reservation to be fingerprinted (FAST via MorphoTust USA at one of their offices in Austin) and on 10/24 was fingerprinted and on the receipt I obtained from them after fingerprinting and pic taken and $9.95 paid was a CHL Application ID# CH-xxxxxxxx and another 11-digit number hand-written called a TCN.

Of course, when I go online to check the status of my application is says "waiting on materials" which is what it has said from Day 1 when I first applied.

So the DPS has a CHL-100, my Texas DL number, the CHL-100 signed by my instructor, though I don't know of course if the FAST is properly accounted-for and email inquiries have gone unresponded; when I telephone 512-424-7293 I've always gotten a "busy" signal.

My questions for anyone who might know or can speculate:

1. Does my CHL instructor also have to submit CHL-100 info in addition to what I already gave them?

2. I can imagine the FBI check taking longer especially given the gov't shutdown but does the FAST data go to the FBI and DPS simultaneously?

3. When I made application they said the cost would be $70 plus $72, seventy for my senior citizen application cost and $72 for some texas.gov fee, but they have only charged my CC for $72--did I misunderstand; the texas.gov fee is just $2 for a TOTAL of $72?

Thanks for any replies!

Welcome to the board :tiphat:

Most of your questions have been answered numerous times in the waiting room message boards. DPS doesn't instantly update and they don't update often. You may see no significant change in your status for upwards of 8 weeks. Find the October applicants timeline in the waiting room and you will prolly see many others in your same boat. Lots of members here put their wait times on the signature block. That could give you some estimate of times also.

The texas.gov fee is only $2 which is a processing fee for using a credit card, making your total cost $72.

I'd visited here in the past (before joining) but never saw The Waiting Room before. Thank you Wodathunkit.

Good to know texas.gov cost me just $2 bucks tomtexan. I didn't think it felt very "Texan" for the site to cost more than my application!

Thanks again.
