Teenage Son Shoots and Kills Father
Teenage Son Shoots and Kills Father
Residents of the normally quiet Avalon Park community were struggling late Wednesday to understand how New Year's Eve could have ended with one of their neighbors dead and his 15-year-old son accused of killing him.
Nelson Martinez, who lives next door to the single-family home on Sun Dew Drive where the deadly shooting happened, said victim Christopher Albano, 34, was a good neighbor and an attentive father to his two teenage sons and younger daughter.
"It's such a shock because they were nice people," said Martinez, 29, a married father of one. "It's just scary to wake up to — and on New Year's Day at that."
Orange County deputies say the 15-year-old, whose name has not been released, shot his dad about 2:20 a.m. Wednesday after the father came home drunk and hit his wife.
Jinette Albano called 911 to report the shooting and told a dispatcher that her son had shot her husband, said Deputy Ginette Rodriguez, a sheriff's spokeswoman. There have been no arrests.

Re: Teenage Son Shoots and Kills Father
"good neighbors and attentive fathers" do not come home drunk and beat their wives.
Sorry the family is having to deal with this if the article is accurate.

Re: Teenage Son Shoots and Kills Father
that's got to be rough but i'd venture to wager that it wasn't the first time there was alcohol and abuse against him and/or his mom....

Re: Teenage Son Shoots and Kills Father
Assuming the article is correct (could be a pretty big assumption); Probably not the first time dad comes home and beats up mom. The kid got tired of seeing it and taking care of mom. So, he chose to take care of the problem himself.

You never know what happens behind closed doors. I grew up with a kid who's dad always volunteered, coached youth sports and even helped us with fundraising. When we were about 15 my friend started telling me about the abuse he and his mother endured. I never would have guessed, I never saw the man angry. But, as adults, I learned much more from his family & mutual friends and felt sorry for the guy.

One of my running buddies at 15 was always taking a beating from his dad. Left bruises and such. His dad would also smack his mom around. Gave her a black eye more than once. We would try and avoid contact. My running bud would try real hard to not get caught when we were acting as fools. That was in 1976 or so. Things were different back then. I think we actually excused his dads behavior. Now days they would lock a monster like that away. I have always believed you can only abuse a dog so many times before he bites you back. Several years later my running bud came back after basic training and about six months in the marines. His dad made a move for him in anger. My buddy beat the crap out of his dad. The marines had taught him a thing or two. I never heard from them again. We all moved on and lost each other in time.Texsquatch wrote:You never know what happens behind closed doors. With all of the responses. If true as written, you can't fault a son for protecting his mother. He did what needed doing.

Never watched it but if I can find it on netflix I will do that. I am assuming it is about an abusive father.Oldgringo wrote:Anybody ever see the Robert Duvall movie, "The Great Santini"? Abusive? That depends on your view. It came out in '79 or so. It's not a new movie and I do think I've seen it available on Netflix.03Lightningrocks wrote:Never watched it but if I can find it on netflix I will do that. No, I reckon there is a fine/thick line between an abusive parent and a parent with high expectations. Get the movie and you be the judge. Don't forget to put the seat down.
