Moving question

Post by Wodathunkit »

My family is building a home in League City, we just got a contract on our current home. We are/have moved into my in-laws home and will be there for a couple of months until new home is built. My current home address won't be valid in a week or two.

I'm not going to change my license until I move in my new home (late January). Question, how should I handle my CHL and Mrs. Whodathunkit's CHL? Should we contact them? We have a future address but we don't live there. Should we stop carrying? Notify DPS? I've not ran across this dilemma yet on other threads.

Thanks for any working knowledge of a similar situation.

I would keep it synched up with your D/L address.

I tried to obtain a Texas CHL in the process of moving to Texas, it took longer than expected, and I was lucky to still have the application still alive, so I only had to pay once. Filing prematurely just screwed things up, slowed them down, caused unnecessary confusion, anxiety and perplexity, none of which would have been involved if I had waited until I had the Texas D/L, with Texas address, etc. That seems to be the key with the CHL.

Can you file a D/L change of address by mail? Electronically like the CHL submission process?
Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me.

Use your new address but have it mailed to where you are staying. For temporary use a POB.

So, I've got a three month gap between my future address and my current one (both in Texas) and I'm not sure how to work around my CHL

Update:

Right, wrong, or indifferent the mrs and I waited to renew are CHL/CDL's. when we got our closing date on our new home we went ahead and submitted address change forms. Tip of the hat to the CHL folks, did address change on-line on 12/26 and got my new updated license today. :hurry: not bad with a holiday thrown in. Drivers license, not so much, but at least they are set up to print a temporary when you apply. I just love Texas
