Share your experience of regret.

So far, I've not had a reason to regret, but I do get irritated with myself when I get my holster on, hustle kids out of the house and forget to grab my gun. It really irritates me!!

I have never forgotten to carry leaving the house. But once as a cop I had an "OH NO!" moment.

I had taken a prisoner to our city jail. I secured my handgun in a locker and had possession of the gun prior to heading upstairs with the prisoner to the jail. Our routine was to come out of the jail, file the paperwork on the way to the locker, go to the locker and retrieve the gun. This day as I finished my paperwork I was about to walk to the lockers when another officer came in with a prisoner who was just out of his mind. Guy was fighting even while cuffed. I immediately went over to help the officer. Two jailers came down to help, so when they got there I headed off to my patrol car.

I went in service and departed. The station was in the middle of the projects and high crime area. I made a traffic stop, exited my vehicle and did a little touch of the handgun...... No handgun! I knew right where it was immediately. Needlessly to say it was a short stop, and I had to go back to the station for some additional "paperwork", sight after.

The only "regrets" I have had were the occasions when I had to be in places that I was not allowed to carry by statute.

I get seriously irritated when I am forcibly disarmed by force of law.

Cannot wait to see if Mr. Cotton's bill can get better traction in 2015.

Even though things eventually turned out in my favor, I hated the idea that some thug could've been walking around with my gun. I haven't been to a gym since then & don't plan on it. If I do decide to go down that road again, I'll figure out a way to stay and while working out.

When I'm summoned for jury service and The State infringes my right to bear arms, that affects how I perceive what's said by the ADA and other agents of The State during the trial.

i once went almost all day with an empty hybrid iwb holster, even adjusting it a couple of times but not noticing it was empty. i went to a parent meeting at my kids school that evening, went to remove it/lock it up, and had a nice panic moment. called the wife and had her check the safe and sure enough it was there. way worse than the panic moment of having left a cell phone or wallet somewhere.

aside from that there haven't been very many times in the last 2 years that i have left home without it, but all those times have been on purpose.

a lot of the places we can't carry are the places where we really need to...

I keep my wallet on top of my carry weapon to prevent just such a thing...again.

My "oh no" moment came when disarming after returning home from work and discovering that the revolver I was carrying was "loaded" with 5 expended shell casings. It wasn't my normal carry and I'd forgotten that the last time I shot it I'd put it away without removing the empties. With just a cursory glance at the cylinder it appeared to be loaded. Now I swing out the cylinder and check, every time.
