Glock for IDPA??? Thinking about a new purchase.

Yes, the Glock 34 and 35 have a slot in the top of the slide for weight reduction (at least that is what I have been told about the reason). There are no holes in the actual barrel, which makes the gun IDPA legal.

I purchased a G34 just for IDPA.No complaints,the gun operates fine,the operator is another story.The S&W M&P in 9mm seems to be gaining popularity,a good friend of mine bought one and likes it.Jaybirds we plan on making the match at PSC next sat.Hope to see you there.

It's not ported in the sense that the barrel itself is not cut away, but the slide is cut away as if it were ported. As I understand it, the purpose of the slide cuts is merely to lighten the slide.

Gotcha. I was thinking of the barrel only, and that only Glock models with a "C" or "CC" after the number were compensated versions...but actually ported, not compensated. As you can tell, I have enough trouble with the distinction there, let alone with various flavors of porting...

I am a Glock fan ... can't go wrong w/one... if you try it & don't like it... I'll give you $50 for it! J/K I love my G35 & do very well w/it in competition.

I just learned something that is going to make me take a first look at the S&W M&P... it can be ordered w/o the mag disconnect!

I shot it for a long time with a G17. But, now, I've managed to kick the addiction and am about to give myself a "2 year chip".
