I ordered one for a gift on May 7th and they told me they were really backed up and it would be at least two weeks.tfrazier wrote:Mail is running slow these days! All the carriers must be on summer vacation. Ordered my smartcarry on May 9. Still hasn't arrived. State claims they mailed my instructor packet on May 10, still hasn't arrived. May go shopping this weekend for a quality IWB for my PX4 Storm 40 cal. Anyone know of good selections in the DFW area? Close to Grapevine, preferably.

Thanks for the info
Thanks for that. My mail carrier isn't very detail oriented and the neighbors and I are constantly having to finish the final leg of the delivery for him. Knowing safecarry is backlogged will keep me from pestering the neighbors to see if it showed up in their box.

Definitely looking for a different carry method. I use a belly band because IWB holsters make too big of a bulge on my hip, OWB holsters are only good for me if I'm wearing a really long shirt [not going to happen] or one of my hockey jerseys, and I use a belly band normally, especially for my Glock 23. However, the belly band causes me to sweat around that chest area and stomach area once the weight of the gun pulls it down. It gets rather uncomfortable, and I cannot eat much with it on because it presses on my stomach.
Not interested in shoulder holsters. The one I have weighs down on the left side, doesn't seem like it fits right. How does anyone wear these things?!
Carrying in the chest area sounds perfect, but I just need something else. I have heard about the Kangaroo holsters and the SmartCarry.. any other testimonials or recommendations?

SafeCarry Arrived - Not Good for Me
My SafeCarry arrived last week. I'm not giving up on it yet, but can't seem to get comfortable with it so far. I may just resign myself to using it only on weekends when I'm wearing my bibbed overalls to work around the woodshop.
If you like wearing a snug belt (I have to or my jeans work their way down really fast! Not enough gluteous maximus) this may not be the right choice. It's difficult to draw from for me and the grip on my PX4 Storm 40 cal bites into my dunlap. I think I'll start searching for a good IWB instead.

Thanks 'Bender. I decided it's worth keeping. I use it when I'm wearing my bibed overalls and it's perfect for that. I just have to wear my belt too tight so it's a choice between my pants falling down or being able to get my firearm out in time to use it. Bought a nice Galco sky marshall IWB a couple weeks ago. Between it and the SafeCarry I'm set for anything but swimming!TIN BENDER wrote:Try wearing it a little lower. Or give Charlie a call @ Smart Carry.
He is a lot of help on issues like this.
Good Luck.

tfrazier, I'm glad you are able to use the Smart Carry.
I agree that the bib overalls are very favorible to the Smart Carry.
But I can assure you that when I've got my slacks or jeans on, IF REQUIRED, I'll suck in and draw my 642 in a safe and rapid manner.
OBTW, I lived in Grapevine for about 15 years. Too many folks for me now. But I do like to visit there.
Good Luck and it was good to hear from you.

I have worn the Smartcarry as my primary holster for my Glock19 for over a year now and it is great for my method of dress. I wear leggings and a T-shirt a lot and wear the Smartcarry at 3'oclock. It took me about a month to get comfortable with the concept, and have carried with one in the chamber ever since then.
The double layer of denim and the proper depth does make a trigger guard and I am always very careful when holstering and unholstering to keep my finger indexed.

I've also been using a Smart Carry as my daily carry since I got my CHL over a year ago. It's great and will conceal in any type of clothing, but it's not perfect. As others mentioned, the strap in the back will ride up and starts to rub at my back. It's comfortable, but a little restrictive sometimes. I don't have an IWB to compare it to but it does the job. My OWB needs a long, loose shirt to cover, and my shoulder holster, which I absolutely love, can't be worn without a jacket, else I'd never take it off!
