“Hopefully this is going to tell these guys you know, I’m not a sitting duck,” she told MyFoxLA.com. "I've got a gun and I know how to use it," she said.
“You have to at some point in time, take responsibility yourself for your own safety and that’s all I was doing,” she said.

Re: Cali Woman Defends Home with Shotgun
Not much information provided in the article.
Maybe I am getting too cynical, but IMO, if she were not an [older] woman she would be charged for "firing warning shots" at the fleeing suspects.
If she had wounded or killed them, she would be charged with a more serious crime.
Remember this is "Cali Woman" defends home with shotgun.

I saw this article and was very happy that she saved herself and her mother. Go lady with the heart top!

If you carry a gun, people call you paranoid. Nonsense! If you carry a gun, what do you have to be paranoid about?
Re: Cali Woman Defends Home with Shotgun
CA actually has laws in place that give a person a defense should they defend themselves in their homes like she did.

Probably not for long.texanjoker wrote:CA actually has laws in place that give a person a defense should they defend themselves in their homes like she did.
Re: Cali Woman Defends Home with Shotgun
I am not trying to start something, but she was in her home, but the two men were not. From what I read they didn't attempt to break in. Maybe the new story left out some other facts.texanjoker wrote:CA actually has laws in place that give a person a defense should they defend themselves in their homes like she did.
The story said that one of the men was in the backyard and the other standing next to the car. She may have known, after the fact, that break-ins had occurred in the neighborhood.

But our Vice President has said this is OK, which IMHO should be a valid defense.WildBill wrote:I am not trying to start something, but she was in her home, but the two men were not.
