Looking for Help

Post by oldglory »

This has been a frustrating experience. For a year now when trying to apply for a new CHL online I get this Error Message:

Error
Your data was not found in our system. If you feel you have entered the correct information, please contact CHL Customer Relations Center.

I emailed Customer Relations and was emailed back to mail the application. I mailed the packet Mid October 2013 and I have had no correspondence with them since. I now assume they did not get my packet. I am now over the one mark of taking the class. Can I send in all the info except the CERTIFICATE OF TRAINING just to get my app in the system then submit the CERTIFICATE OF TRAINING later. I still get the same error message today.

Any ideas why I am getting this error message? There are no issues with my DL or my past that should be causing problems.

Thanks in advance for any information.

If they cashed your check they must have received it. If not then after five months I would guess it's lost in the mail.

Yes, first check that they received payment. If so, make a copy of the bank record and/or check itself. Next, use your phone and call them so you can talk to a real person. I bet this will clear it up and get things done. Make a note of the name of the person you speak with and take notes about what they tell you to do so that you don't overlook a step. Five months is a long time. You should have done this perhaps three months ago. Good luck.

First, welcome to the forum!

Second, all the above recommendations to call, etc., are good. If you have to re-send your application, make sure you send it return receipt requested next time so that you KNOW FOR SURE they received in Austin.

Third, your CHL-100 is good for 2 years from the date you took the class, so no need to worry about the training certificate expiring.

Fourth, I have no idea why you are getting the error message.

I originally mailed my package by certified mail so I could track it. The Post Office lost the mail the same day that I mailed it. It said the package was forwarded to the sort facility, but the sort facility never received it. When I mailed copies the second time, it went right through.

Is the drivers license number you are attempting to log in with current and are you are using TX as the issuing state?
Are you sure you are using the correct format for the date? mm/dd/yyyy
One other thought would be to make sure the handgun license field is left blank. Any erroneous info entered there such as "n/a" would likely throw an error on the query.

This is assuming that the error message you received is during your login.

Welcome to the forum. As others have stated, I would call and talk with someone. While on the phone with them I would have them walk thru getting into the online system so I could check the progress. If I was not satisfied with the response I would contact my state representative. This a been a very successful remedy for others in the past.
