There are always exceptions to the rule. But if I was a betting man then I am going to go with the odds.VMI77 wrote:That would be a false assumption. I would assume that no matter how pro gun the person is, she will answer no just to avoid the potential liability of officially granting such permission. Besides, every work setting has at least one idiot that can't keep his mouth shut.
There are far more companies with hundreds of employees that will not allow concealed carry by employees. Too many people like me with "risk" in their titles who worry about "industry best practices". For example, here is a recent training webinar I listened to: http://web.uslaw.org/webinars/locked-lo ... workplace/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
It discusses why companies should enforce firearms bans in the workplace and and how to do so legally, written and presented by an Illinois attorney.

I'm not allowed to carry at work per company policy, no 30.06 signs on the building nor in the HR policy. That's exactly why I "don't" as far as any are concerned. One of the VPs there knows i have my license, hasn't ever asked or said anything. if she did ask, i dont have to tell.

I would absolutely love to be wrong about not believing that this country is filled with Obama voting employers who host CHL classes for its hundreds of employees.

I would love for you to be wrong too, but yours is the first I have heard. I haven't heard of this happening in a large company of non-Obama voters either.Embalmo wrote:That would be a false assumption. That isn't my post. I just quoted it incorrectly. I've never heard of a liberal led company that hosts CHL classes.WildBill wrote:I would love for you to be wrong too, but yours is the first I have heard. Re: concealed carry and new job
My two cents worth, just over 5 years ago when I did my CHL class, several of us at work were talking about taking the class and that they wanted to take it as well. My employer, pro-gun and a hunter, made the remark that he didn't know how to feel about someone carrying at work. He knew that since he owned the music store he could even open carry if he wanted to, but wasn't sure how to feel about it. He didn't say yes, he didn't say no. I have been carrying concealed since and nothing has been said. I'm sure i have imprinted more than once or twice, but nothing has been said.

Re: concealed carry and new job
Oh, I'm not denying that it is exceptional. My only point is that not every employer prohibits carry. I have no idea how many do out of the pool of how many don't. All I'm saying is that in my company, run by a man who fancies himself to be a liberal, it is allowed, and I can't believe we're the only company like that in the state of Texas, when many company heads are probably conservative.Embalmo wrote:That would be a false assumption. What's more important? Your safety & well being or a job at a coffee shop?
If I worked at a coffee shop and had not received notice, I would carry.

Interesting statement. No 30.06 and not in HR policy. So how were you informed? I assume orally. Are all new hires told that they cannot carry? Absolutely not throwing any stones....just a very interesting situation. Most employers know that if they want to prohibit...they SHOULD have it in the HR policy.

No, it just shows that there are something like 1 out of 1,000 liberals who believe in the right to self-defense. I've never met any others, but I have seen a couple liberal blogs on the internet that also support the right to self-defense.
