Ruger sr40c

Post by edgar0400 »

Hi everyone, I just purchased a Ruger Sr40c, and I was wondering if anybody have heard of any issues about it. My main concern is because I appendix carry and always have one on the pipe on my other guns, and was wondering about what are the chances of an accidental discharge even with the thumb safety on.

I have the SR9, so it's built on the same platform and carry with one in the pipe and thumb safty on and never had any issues, but i can't speak directly to the SR40c. I've had mine for about 5 years now.

I carry the 40c everyday. The extended mag likes to dig in my back fat a little and on occasions I have knocked the safety off. I carry it with 1 in the pipe and 15 in the mag everyday with no concerns.

I've got an SR9c and carry IWB at 4:00. I do find that my thumb safety occasionally gets knocked off. Usually when sitting on the end a couch or in a chair with arms. I've also heard it click off on a couple of occasions when my shirt tail got hung in it. Once I was uncovering prior to removing the gun, the other time I was just adjusting my waistband. I keep it in a good crossbreed holster, so even when the safety is off, I should still be safe from an ND. But I don't think I could get myself to carry it pointed at my femoral artery, knowing how many times I've checked and found the safety off.

hmm, i've never had my safety knock off. If it ever did I would still feel safe against an ND with the trigger safety and keeping it in a good solid holster. It would make my heart jump a bit though if I went to disarm and noticed the safety wasn't on. :eek6

I carry an sr9c, chambered, w/ safety on. Never had the safety get knocked off. I usually carry @ 5 o'clock. I have had an issue w/ failure to feed when racking the slide to chamber a round. Doesn't happen when firing.
