Online application, checklist doesn't mention CHL-78C

Post by Bobby23 »

I've applied online and completed everything but my FAST appointment.

Question is this. I entered my class C misdemeanor information as required online, but the printed checklist says nothing about having to fill out a CHL-78C. This is the supplemental document on criminal history where you supply certified copies of all judgments and charging instruments from the courts.

Is this no longer required if you're applying online since they're running a background check anyway? I have the required documents from out of state, and let me tell you that was a fun process. I figure it can't hurt to send it along but wondered if somebody knew definitively?

Thanks,

Most Class C misdemeanors are not deal breakers. Perhaps the process has improved to account for that.

Thanks for the reply.

I would agree, except that there's no differentiation between types of offenses in the form. It's self reporting and filling in a blank with date and location of offense.

Perhaps it's something they'll request additional info on later. I can see the state wasting the postage and employee time to inform me of something that a few lines of text on the web page could have avoided.

Believe I'm going to scan the disposition document and submit it electronically along with my form 100 and 78C.

The CHL-78C is ONLY for those that pay through the mail. If you paid online then you don't need any of the downloadable forms from the website.

Thanks,

That makes sense considering the other documents replaced by the online process. However, the form's other function is to prompt the applicant to provide certified copies of the charging / disposition documents. The checklist doesn't mention anything about that, but I'm going to scan and submit them anyway.

Given the number of questions generated by the application process, you'd figure the state would have generated a FAQ by now.

Good thing you guys provide this forum to take up the slack.
