I have written a student work and guide that I hand out. Written in plain English with the laws as support.
It is a good booklet to have.

+1, I'd love to see it.n5wd wrote:Wanna share?jbarn wrote:... I have never given that out in class.

When I took my class I read the state book front to back before class. I listened and took very little notes that I remember. The test was easy and I remember there was one question that was worded in a way that was confusing to me. Eliminate the obvious wrong answers and you'll be fine. Its been a long time since I was in a classroom but I still breezed through this.
I've spent a lot of money on guns, bullets and holsters.... The rest I've just squandered away!

I am a first time test taker and appreciate all of your advice/ feedback! Tomorrow is my big day so the nerves are catching up to me.
Re: CHL course material?
There is no sylabus. There is an outline that the instructors must insure is covered in their class. But it is entirely up to each instructor to create their own lesson plans any way they choose as long as they cover the outline. That outline is available for instructors only.
As with any other subject for which there are rules and regulations, it will behoove you to make yourself an expert on the law which you can get on the DPS site by downloading the -16 handbook. Spend your time learning and understand those rules then you will be very prepared not only to attend class but to carry CHL.

Get a good night's sleep, eat breakfast to give the brain some sugar to work with, and try to relax. If you're a note-taker, bring a pad and pen... If not, listen to what the instructor is telling you. You may want to make a note of questions you have, to ask later if the subject is not covered well in the class.
Most folks should have no trouble with the class. If you're not real proficient with your gun, bring an extra 50 rounds to class with you, just in case. Make sure your gun is cleaned and lubed before you get to the range.
Good luck!

Relax. If you're smart enough to figure out how to get to the classroom the written test should be easy. If you have enough hand-eye coordination to drive there, the shooting test should be easy.
I believe the basic political division in this country is not between liberals and conservatives but between those who believe that they should have a say in the personal lives of strangers and those who do not.

You'll be fine. I've never had a student fail the written test and I've only had 6 people not pass the shooting portion on the first attempt. Five passed on the second attempt and sixth passed on the third attempt. Where are you taking the class?alisonhof wrote:I am a first time test taker and appreciate all of your advice/ feedback!
