30.06 sign wording
When I log in to the texas3006.com website it brings me to our forum. What I don't readily find on the 3006 website or here is the exact proper wording for the sign. Is it posted somewhere and if so where?
It's fine if you disagree. I can't force you to be correct.

Yes. The exact words required are in the 30.06 law.LDB415 wrote:When I log in to the texas3006.com website it brings me to our forum. What I don't readily find on the 3006 website or here is the exact proper wording for the sign. Is it posted somewhere and if so where?

Maybe the short class isn't such a great idea for everyone.

Short or long class doesn't matter if the instructor doesn't cover it properly or the student misses the info.Misfit Child wrote:Maybe the short class isn't such a great idea for everyone.

Re: 30.06 sign wording
We covered the sign but I want to make a wallet size laminated card that exactly matches the legal wording and has a one inch marking that can be held next to any questionable size posting. I want to see the wording in at least a semi-official posting to be certain it's correct down to the last punctuation mark before I do it.

Re: 30.06 sign wording
for me, if it says at a glance sec 4413 then its a invalid sign.... also my opinion is I not got up to a sign and start measuring the letters, to me that's just a give away that you are possibly carrying a concealed handgun....
I copied this off the following site http://whyguncontrol.blogspot.com/2013/ ... signs.html
"For the letters to be 1" tall and all the statutory language to
appear the minimum legal size of a 30.06 sign would
be about 17" x 21" give or take a little.
Larger, if there are any graphics on it like a "gunbusters" logo.
just knowing the general size of a valid 30.06 sign to me is a better help than measuring letters.

here is also a link to a valid 30.06 sign

Re: 30.06 sign wording
Don't do that pls, just use a quarter. A quarter is .95 inches. Have the pertinate info in your phone and remember its sign, not signs (1 in English and 1 in Spanish).Unicorn Rancher wrote:Its hard to get more official than http://www.txdps.state.tx.us/InternetFo ... The law states exactly the words for the English sign, and then says, "includes the language described by
Paragraph (A) in both English and Spanish".
I'm no linguist, but I have to assume there may be some multiple ways to say the same thing in Spanish, with some minor differences between them. While the wording for the English sign is codified, I'd not dismiss a sign that was 100% correct in English, but differing somewhat in Spanish from what is seen here.
As a side note, most examples are shown in all caps, but the law stipulates block letters, not all caps. I also would not advise anyone to make the mistake of discounting a sign with upper and lower case letters, just because most every example shows all caps.
