Armed victim returns fire, killing 14-year-old gang member

An armed Lakeland man killed a 14-year-old gang member in a shootout Wednesday evening after both drew guns and opened fire, according to the Lakeland Police Department. Virgis Canteen, 43, had accused Davion Smith of burglarizing his apartment last month, records show.

This was not the 5-feet 8-inch tall, 130-pound teen's first brush with violence. State records state he was a convicted felon arrested twice since age 12 for armed robbery with a gun, once for battery on a public or school employee and once for burglarizing a home.

Yeah, almost a guaranteed good shoot. What the paper didn't state because it's not politically correct now is the race of the GG and the BG but I'm almost positive it was a black-on-black crime. If the GG was white, I'm sure there would have been a different spin on the story.

The juvenile justice system basically guarantees a thug like this will eventually work up to killing someone unless a victim kills them first.

Why would you think that when the victim regardless of race was fired upon 1st by the assailant? Especially after the known gang member & ARMED 14 y.o. went to the man's home to confront him.

Heck, I can answer that one. Because the media would simply not report those facts which you so easily threw out there. They would massage the story to make it sound like the 14 year old, who had been wrongly accused of burglary, simply went over there to talk to his accuser, who ruthlessly shot him down "in cold blood".
