CHL Photo
Howdy men, I've been away for a while, been really busy. I've got a question about change of address and your CHL photo. I recently moved and am updating both of my licenses, I went to DPS to change my DL and now I need to change my CHL. The question is, is there a way to request that they use my current DL photo instead of just using my old CHL photo? I would really like both cards to match as the CHL photo is about 6 years old and I have a clean shaven baby face and now I have a big ol' beard that doesn't even fit completely in the DL photo. Thanks in advance for you input.

To my mind it is wholly irresponsible to go into the world incapable of preventing violence, injury, crime, and death. How feeble is the mindset to accept defenselessness. How unnatural. How cheap. How cowardly. How pathetic-TN

Re: CHL Photo
Not sure if there is a notes section on the online address change request that you could put in 'Please Use Current DL Photo for New License'. You could always fill it out, then call them and ask to change the photo. Also, you could send in the CHL-70 manually and write Please Use Current DL Photo for New License' at the top of the form and see if that works.

Re: CHL Photo
they used my DL photo on my CHL and I don't know what the photo they took when my fingerprints were done was used for
Re: CHL Photo
I would think they would use most current DL photo
Re: CHL Photo
'The photo taken with your fingerprints is just to use as a comparison for them to match to your DL photo. For new resident licenses they always use the DL photo now. For renewals, it had been hit or miss on whether they used the existing old photo or your DL photo.patterson wrote:they used my DL photo on my CHL and I don't know what the photo they took when my fingerprints were done was used for

Thanks for the replies.
To answer your question Patterson I got my renewal in 2 weeks. It stinks that I had to renew in April but then moved in a few months, but man I'm so glad that I finally got moved out to the sticks.

Re: CHL Photo
Well, I got hold of a nice young lady at DPS who told me in order to guarantee my current DL photo I would have to send in the CHL 16 by mail and it would extend the process by at least 2 weeks and that it was just a crap shoot doing it online as to which photo they would use. I didn't want to wait since the Fair is coming up and I don't want to raise any eyebrows with licenses that have two different addresses on them so I threw the dice and just did it online, so I'll let you know what happens.

Re: CHL Photo
You have to pay by mail. You'll need to send a letter specifically stating you want to use your DL photo. The website is not set up for this. Same also if someone changes DL#'s, moves to/from another state or had a name change- all must be done by mail.

Re: CHL Photo
Your are absolutely correct. I got the license in the mail the other day and they used the same old photo. I guess that it shouldn't that big of a deal that the photos don't match, DL with beard CHL without.

If you live right, no one need ever see the two of them together.RAM4171 wrote:Your are absolutely correct. I got the license in the mail the other day and they used the same old photo. I guess that it shouldn't that big of a deal that the photos don't match, DL with beard CHL without.
