Fort Worth Nature Center and Refuge. OK to carry?

Post by Outnumbered »

From what I can see it's city owned, but at http://www.fwnaturecenter.org/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; I see "It was designated a National Natural Landmark in 1980 by the National Park Service (US Department of the Interior)." Am I correct in understanding that this is just some sort of recognition that the park received? I'm hoping I'm ok to carry there. Does anyone have any more information?

Refuge guidelines state that firearms are prohibited, but in the welcome statement it states "At 3,621 acres, the FWNC&R is one of the largest city-owned nature centers in the United States." It would seem that the preemption for government owned property applies here.

That it is owned by the city says I'm going to carry and there's nothing they can do about it. And even if it weren't owned by the city, if the only sign they put up says that firearms are prohibited then I'm still carrying because that is not effective notice according to 30.06.

Thanks for the replies. I was thinking the same way, but the Federal references had me nervous.

Possibly, the only way they could prevent carry by a CHL is if the ACOE is somehow involved. I'm looking around, but haven't found any link yet.
