To my knowledge, it's the grip, the ambi mag release and the dual recoil springs that were available in the subcompact Gen 3 models. But that's it that I can tell...The Annoyed Man wrote:Frankly, from what I've seen so far, other than grip size, I don't see what the big whoop-dee-do is over Gen4 Glocks. Are they really that much better?
The only comparison in another brand that I can think of is the jump from XD to XD(M) pistols, where there actually are some true upgrades (match grade barrels, cocking indicators, slimmer slide profile, etc., etc.). Are the differences between G3 and Gen4 Glocks as radical as the differences between XD and XD(M) pistols?
That's what I thought. I can tell you as a lefty shooter myself, that it was easier to adapt myself to using my left index finger to depress a rightie mag release than it has been to adapt myself to using my thumb with an ambidextrous system. I now own three pistols with ambi mag releases (M&P45, XD(M)45, XDS45), and I am no faster, and perhaps actually slower, using my thumb instead of my index finger. Once in a while, I will carry my wife's Gen3 G19 just for grins, and I'm not at all bothered by the rightie mag release.Macgyver wrote:To my knowledge, it's the grip, the ambi mag release and the dual recoil springs that were available in the subcompact Gen 3 models.
