I have had my Kimber Tactical Ultra II for about 2 weeks now, and have put over 500 rounds through it. Yeah, I like to break'em in quick. It helps me gain confidence in the new carry gun.

It's an outstanding handgun, but I would like to have the "travel" removed from the trigger. I has about 1/8" movement. Is there anyone in the Houston area well known for trigger work? I prefer the Houston area, but if I have to send it off somewhere, that's alright I guess. Bottom line...I want someone to work on my Kimber, that is known to do outstanding work.
Any input would be appreciated, considering the bit of knowledge that can be graciously offered by the folks here.

If my 1911 needed work it would go to Vandenburg.....I have seen Vandenburg recommended by people I trust and I would not hesitate to leave my gun with him. I am sure you will see people agree with me on this.

Many on this forum think very highly of the work done by Ed Vanden Berg. His shop is located across from Ellington Field.
If you prefer the north side of town and don't mind a short trip to Conroe Derrick at Sportsman's guns and ammo does excellent trigger work.

The Houston area in general is kinda flush with 1911 gunsmiths. You've got Eddie Jimenea, Ed Vandenberg, Bruce Warner, Jack Green, Herman Mueschke, Teddy Jacobson, the list goes on.
I spent a bunch of time learning from Bruce Warner and I have no problem recommending him. He helped me build my first STI and the one thing I learned from that experience is the next time I want an STI, I'll just give Bruce the check and tell him to call me when it's done.
Eddie Jimenea and Ed Vandenberg are both well known in Houston's USPSA and IDPA communities. I think you'll be hard pressed to find any complaints about them. I like them both and would happily recommend either.

When you take the time out of your day to beat someone, it has a much longer lasting effect on their demeanor than simply shooting or tazing them.
