Over 200 Alamo artifacts donated by Phil Collins to the State of Texas. :thumbs2:
Collins was in San Antonio to donate what’s considered the world’s largest private collection of Alamo artifacts. It includes a fringed leather pouch and a gun used by Davy Crockett, Jim Bowie’s legendary knife and letters from garrison commander William B. Travis.

“There’s things in there that will make your mouth drop,” Collins said.

Good for him. I wonder if he got his stolen goods back? The lesson is, don't mess with us old men. We might not be able to fight back, but we shoot straight. :mrgreen:

Most of the older guys I know shoot pretty straight. They aren't the fastest anymore, but they'll hit what they aim at more often than not.

"fired multiple shots at the man, striking him as he tried to flee " doesn't sound like self defense or in-fear-of-life to me. will be interesting to see what Grand Jury does.

Too many missing details to opine. Did he have the necklace in his hand as he fled? (Possibly lawful defense of property.) The thug was in his car when he was shot, so did the CHL reasonably believe his life was in danger when he fired? If the thug had a weapon, then it was aggravated robbery and the TPC §9.42(b) presumption applies and it is presumed that he "reasonably believed that [deadly force] was immediately necessary."

Then it could simply be the "he needed killing" defense.

That is neat. I didn't recognize that this was the singer until I went to the link, had no idea he was an Alamo buff. Good for him. :txflag:

Altho my memory of history is that Bowie's knife was not recovered after the siege of the Alamo, so I am wondering what the "legendary knife" is? I'm going to the Alamo soon, I'll ask them if they need help sorting through the crates.

News tonight stated police have said he would not be charged and was totally justified in his shooting. The guy had ripped the necklace off of his wife's neck, pushed her down and had jumped in a car to escape.

9.42(2)(B), then. Good shoot, by the letter. Once the robber was in a car, no lesser force available to the victims could reasonably be expected to stop him.

That part of Dallas has a pretty mixed variety of housing and demographics. This video in this link shows at least one bullet hole that appears to be quite some distance from the thug's vehicle. Possibly where the robbery began ... http://www.wfaa.com/story/news/local/da ... /18115091/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
