Quirkiest gun-related thing you do...

Post by AlaskanInTexas »

What is one firearm-related thing that you do that a non-firearm person would find the oddest or quirkiest?

I'll go first - I give a name to each of my guns.

When the gun is disassembled and completely cleaned before assembly, I am still afraid to point the detached barrel at me to see if it is completely spotlessly clean.

I lovingly fondle my 1911s. I find great comfort in how they fit my hand. I marvel in their design and function. John Moses Browning was a genius.

I don't think I could remember all their names if I was to name them. I think you need more guns.

I practice moving room to room while drawing from a concealed holster and aiming at various objects... Even my wife thought I had lost my mind at first..........

I agree about 1911s and John Moses Browning

I do this as well.

I occasionally dry fire at things on TV that I don't like as well.:

So far just about everything mentioned is something I do, so I guess none of it is truly quirky, I'll keep working on it.

I get the willies doing that too. I tend to look from the chamber side.

I scratch my temple with the muzzle of my .45.

JUST KIDDING!!!!

Ever since a negligent discharge I had back in 1996, I am not satisfied with double/triple checking unloaded revolvers. I actually count the empty holes in the cylinder, just in case I overlooked a cartridge still in a chamber. That's one thing I can think of. I'm sure I have others, but I can't think of them.

I check my 6 each and every time I stand up from a squatting position or picking something up to make sure nobody is firing behind me.

I keep up with my round count because I think Sig recommends replacing recoil spring every 5000 rounds but I heard others went 10000 on their Sigs and I also keep up with it on my 1911s. Im also OCD when it comes to cleaning my firearms
