Too Close to Home

Post by Keith B »

These home invasion robberies were all within 2 miles of our house, with the last one (the one in the video) only 1/4 mile away. :fire

I didn't get to watch the video, where is the 3rd one ? The first two seem very close to 75, just off Alma, so quick on and off 75, then anywhere from there (635 or GB). I guess this highlights the layers of defense and that the only gun you may have available for defense is the one that is on you at the time something happens. For those that do not carry at home because it is not comfortable or not likely to be needed, this is a good lesson.
Are there any details on how these guys gained access ? Just broke a door down ?

The other was very close to those two.

No details on method of entry other than one was through a garage. I am assuming the garage was probably open. The others, I wonder if they had a glass storm door? The weather was pretty warm last night, so maybe they had the main door open and the storm door was not very much security?

Also 3.5 miles from my house, we went with a reminder home safety lesson with my wife. At first, she resigned to the fact that is hopeless and best is to surrender to the wishes of the 3 bad guys.
Other than we should do to keep our house secure, here is my response.
1) If I am armed, I will engage. She was surprised when she said, but they are 3 armed bad guys. I said, this is why I go to Dallas Pistol Club and compete in Personal Protection Matches and at less than 5 yards, I can take 3 center mass shots on 3 targets in less than 5 seconds.
2) I I am not armed, I will try to disarm the closest BG using speed of motion, distraction, and brute force.
3) Instruct the family to seek safety, and then, I will engage the other 2 bad guys.
4) Surrender is NOT an option.

This is why carrying all the time, is the right choice. She went silent.

This was 3-4 miles from my house. I usually carry at home. I have gone to my double stack M&P now.

I shoot at the DPC matches also. Good practice.

Have seen that on the news. Home invasion with home owners inside. These are VERY dangerous people, and should be treated as such. Gun up, and be aware!

It looks like possibly the same crew moved over to my neck of the woods (Flower Mound). With 3 of 4 in custody. Fourth one possibly still on the loose in Carrollton. http://www.wfaa.com/story/news/crime/20 ... /20081913/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Wow nice police work! Prayers to all who were traumatized by these thugs. Thank God none of the victims were seriously hurt or worse.

Sounds like they may have arrested 3 of the 4, if these actually are the same guys http://www.wfaa.com/story/news/crime/20 ... /20081913/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

One of the Allen break ins was one block from my home. If it had been me, I would have ended up duct taped (though they would have been severely disappointed in my lack of stuff, unless they like legos or dolls). I was not prepared. That said, what would you do if three armed intruders came in. I would think I would have taken the odds of them not shooting me if I cooperated over the odds of me winning a gun fight with three armed intruders. Still mulling that over.

Generally speaking, I'm not one for new laws.

That said: Home invaders should receive special attention/legislation for their crimes.

Public execution works for me.

No hanging around for 20/30 yrs. on death row either. If found guilty, punishment is meted out NOW!

Hanging from a gibbet should be the choice of execution for these monsters.

They're not just criminals.

They're enjoy inflicting terror...

No death needle/chemicals where they get to die easily. Nope...

Would this punishment stop home invasions?

Probably not, but I'd bet it'd slow to a trickle...
