CHL course age

Post by OldBlue »

Hi, I am new to the community. I am 16 years old about to turn 17, I was trying to find out if I can, in the State of Texas, take a CHL course at 16 and then apply for the license when I turn of legal age? I plan to join the military so I believe thats 18 if I am not mistaken.

Welcome to the forum.

You can take the class at any age if an instructor will allow it. However, your initial CHL-100 is only valid for 2 years, so you would need to make sure that you can submit the class form with proof of your military status before the CHL-100 expired. That would be after basic training and once you were in AIT or at your regular duty assignment.
