Hi, folks. I've come across some conflicting information on this board (two things) and what I was told when I called DPS and got someone on the phone (one thing). I've seen posts on this board, and this may be date-dependent, both to the effect that 1. you need to get some documentation once you go in for your fingerprints and submit a scan of that online with the rest of your docs (CHL-100, etc.), and 2. that you do not need to do this. #1 is also what DPS told me on the phone: Go in for your prints and get "a receipt" (maybe the FAST form that I'm supposed to take to the L-1 location once it is signed?), and only then submit your other docs. I guess if I submit my other docs before I am able to get the fingerprinting done, DPS will just go checking the L-1 database every so often until they find me. Any experience on this? Is a document from the fingerprinting place actually needed or not? Sorry if I missed another definitive thread on this, but I thought it would be good to have an up-to-date answer on this question for others who are wondering, because the CHL Application Checklist is itself a little ambiguous about whether you're supposed to submit supporting documentation along with "Electronic fingerprints submitted using FAST."
Thanks!
Online document submission: Need document from L-1/FAST?

Re: Online document submission: Need document from L-1/FAST?
I was told it was unnecessary, but doesn't hurt if you put a copy with your docs. You are sending electronically, but for those that mail, be sure to keep the original and only send a copy.
Re: Online document submission: Need document from L-1/FAST?
We have 2 MorphoTrust fingerprinting locations, and we are also CHL instructors, so we have a bit more experience with the process than most. Here is how it works:
1. Complete the online CHL application and then schedule your fingerprint appointment.
2. Download and print the FAST Form when you schedule your appointment. If you do, it will have your info already printed on it. If you don't, the fingerprint tech will give you a blank one to fill out at your appointment.
3. The fingerprint tech signs your form and prints a TCN (Tracking Control Number) on it, then gives it back to you.
4. You do NOT need to send the form to DPS.
5. IF you submitted your CHL-100 (CHL class completion form) before being fingerprinted, you will receive a letter from DPS telling you that they have not received your prints. Even if you only submitted it the day before, you will get this letter in the mail about a week later. By the time you get the letter in the mail, they will have already received your prints. But, if it makes you feel better, you can call DPS and give them your TCN number (from the FAST Form that you kept) and they will reassure you that they have your prints.
6. The fingerprint office transmits, and then deletes, your record at the end of each day. It does not help to call the local office and ask them what happened to your prints. They will not have them. This is for protection of your personal info. Your information is not kept at the local office, and cannot be accessed by them once it has been transmitted.
