Is it possible to add a higher visibility insert into the front blade of a fixed sight revolver?

I know the front sight is very small, but I'd like to be able to see the front sight a little easier in lower light settings. What, if any, are the options for this?

This may not be exactly what you are looking for, but XS Sight Systems offera replacement tritum big dot front sights for some revolvers. In my case, it required tapping out the small roll pin that retained the factory front ramp, a small amount of fitting, then tapping the roll pin in place with the new sight. A good gunsmith should not have much trouble with this work.

A low tech, inexpensive but very functional solution is to paint the front sight so it looks the way you want it.
Before you start laughing, check out this front sight...



I did this with Sharpie Paint Pens. It has held up to several hundred rounds so far and has not faded or discolored.

Gotta love the sharpies...I used a silver one on my .22 conversion kit front sight and love it.

Hmmm, I've tried painting the sight, but only with bright red and orange. Maybe I should try a different color...I'm off to search the Revlon website for new color schemes...

But, frankly, in my experience the paint didn't adhere very well. I got the impression if I were to take a steel brush to the sight first, to remove blueing and rough it up some, it might stick better...but I haven't experimented.

I used a sharpie on my 642. One idea is to to use some gold leaf and apply it to the front sight. I have done that on my Sevigny sights.
