I have not personally gone through this, but ALL government entities are required to accept it as your residence. It is not required by non-government entities, such as banks, etc. They can, but not required. All this to say, you can use it as your address when applying for your CHL and they must accept it. As for sending in a copy of your DD214, yes, you need send either a physical copy or electronic copy depending on the method you apply with. You may not like it, but that's the way it is. Like Keith said, you don't HAVE to, but you won't qualify for the discount and/or having "veteran" printed on your license. Good luck and sorry for your headache with the bank.

Yupper, understand all that. That's another issue all together (that I only addressed here because it happened to come up here as well). Some basic things that I feel strongly about start with any law that is at face value basically unenforceable (as that means it will be selectively enforced) and having govt. requirements that are either just plain schtoo-ped or result in you having to do something a second time because they are apparently too lazy to do it. In the case of veteran status, they have the documentation. They entered it into this thingie called a database. They have direct and immediate access to that database. Either use that database, or admit that they don't/won't and we'll get rid of it and also the folks that supposedly maintain it. Then it makes sense to have to produce the same document over and over. Just how I feel about it.

The "problem" with the bank is that they don't accept PO boxes as legal residences. The branch manager well understood my situation as I kind of had to go into detail and once her jaw came back up from the floor, did me a "favor" and entered my work address in as my residence and the ACP address as my mailing address. Of course there is that whole issue of them wanting a verified address....and nobody had me produce anything related to the work address. The current TX ACP law is inadequate in that regard as it risks potential exposure. In this day and age, a bank account is not something "nice" to have but rather is required (e.g., rentals now days often specify no cash payments, and payments through bank fund transfer only). As such, they should be required to comply with laws created to protect someone's address otherwise it leaves you with fearing for your live vs. having a bank account that you have to have to live in this day and age.

My acp experience is limited to the cartridges and a few weapons that are chambered for them, so I can't help with your original question.

Yeah, thought about that....but my username is more about something else. I was very active on another forum when I lived in another state but needed a new username here that wouldn't possibly be recognized as "me" and so....I used to have a variety of Glocks, including 9mm, 10mm, .40. But I also had a 1911 (or two). Got rid of all of the guns in the house awhile ago. And now that I'm here have started up and my first gun bought in TX was a 1911. Followed by another Glock .40. My username though is just a good one to use as very little chance of it being traced by a specific someone to me.
