Man Shot After Cleaning Gun

A man shot himself after he cleaned his gun early Wednesday, KPRC Local 2 reported.

South Houston police said several men were at the home in the 300 block Avenue B when the man was wounded at about 1:45 a.m.

Detectives said the gun accidentally went off when the man put the gun in his waistband.

The man was wounded in the leg. He was transported by helicopter to Memorial Hermann Hospital in stable condition.

Police said the man is expected to recover.

At 1:45am...

Geesh, doesn't anyone sleep anymore???

The first thing I always do after I clean my guns is to stuff them down the front of my pants!!!

(sarcasm switch, off)

Once again there is a lot going on here that we will never find out about...

Yeah, right. I always clean my weapons when I have company over in the middle of the night.

Moral here is to be cautious when holstering. Finger on the trigger when holstering is a bad thing.

Although the circumstances... S.Houston, 1:45AM, 'several men' makes it sound like this could have been a red team accident.

LOL, cleaning guns at 1:45 with several men at the house? Sounds bogus to me.

Me and a few friends clean our guns together and sometimes that late at night. Considering me and the guys are still the young buck of the group, it's something we like to do and socialize at the same time. We all make sure everyone unloads and double check if the barrel/chamber is empty before cleaning. Make sure everyone keep the bogger hook off the trigger when holstering. I guess everyone is different.

I also dont sleep to well if I go to bed to early I think its a hold over
from my truck driving on the 11 pm to 10 am shift.I use to drive
Air Freight all night at O'Hare for about 10 years.
I'am up to about 3 am reading or Scale Modeling, but I dont clean my
firearms as all my cleaning stuff is in my closet and I dont dare wake the
wife at that hour. :nono:
