Fair Park Marvel Experience, Wanders Present?

Post by drjoker »

Ok, so I'm going to the Marvel Comics Experience at Fair Park. Ain't no way I'm gonna be unarmed in that part of town. I've read the law and it IS legal to carry in the Cotton Bowl as long as there is no sporting event going on. The Marvel Experience will be in the Cotton Bowl. However, all the cops at the State Fair seem to think that it's illegal to carry in the Cotton Bowl. Therefore, you probably don't wanna be wanded. Will there be wanders there just like at the State Fair? It was OK at the Fair to be wanded because no part of the Fair is in the Cotton Bowl. However, since the entire Marvel Event will happen in the Cotton Bowl, I can't attend if they wand me. Anybody went? Any wanders? Thanks.

Who owns the Cotton Bowl these days? We are talking about the old one right?

The Cotton Bowl is still owned by the City of Dallas. As long as you have your CHL, you shouldn't fear wanding - just show 'em your CHL and be done with it.

As far as Dallas cops thinking that the Cotton Bowl is "off limits" to CHLs, my experience has been that is only true on days when there are ball games there. Otherwise, no one's ever made a big deal out of walking around the stadium during the State Fair, if there was no ball game going on.

I'm happy to report that I'm at the Marvel's entrance line with my CCW. There's only a food check station. No wands. So far there's a fair amount of security guards and one officer. :txflag:

Do the facts that you have to be a good sport to want to go down there, and that the presenters are professionals, make this a "professional sporting event"? "rlol"

Now that I'm inside... Unless you're bringing a kid stay home. It's like a marvel themed chunky cheese in here. Long lines for just a few attractions.

No wanders. Just a bag check for weapons. As long as you're not carrying in a purse, it's o.k. Also, it is not in the Cotton Bowl. It was by the South Side parking lots.

Follow-up report.

The event is very concealed carry friendly. As a bonus there is a shooting game that was quite fun and of course, I was the top score. I can't imagine why... My family including teens enjoyed the time and we got to enjoy something together instead of just staring at our phones for a few more hours.

I went with my sisters & bro in law. I used to be a big comic book fan & love the movies, but his was kinda cheesy. I enjoyed the shooting game & was first in my group the first time I went through it. The second time I scored better, but somebody blew me away LOL
