Quanell X has a "Come to Jesus" moment.....

As the name indicates, this is the place for gun-related political discussions. It is not open to other political topics.

“I Could Easily See Me Pulling My Gun Quicker.” Community Activist Receives Sobering Lesson
Posted by Bob Owens on February 6, 2015 at 9:32 am

Quanell X, the head of Houston’s New Black Panther Party and one of the agitators who has gone after everyone from George Zimmerman to Ferguson Police Officer Darren Wilson, has almost always sided against the police in officer-involved shootings of suspects.

He is now singing a different tune after personally going through “shoot/no shoot” training with the Missouri City Police Department.

X played the role of a law enforcement officer responding to calls in a number of different scenarios, and had to chose whether to use his gun (a realistic training weapon that fires man-marker rounds), a taser, or not to employ any force at all.

———SNIP———

Now that he’s seen life through the eyes of an officer, his views of of the challenges faced by police have changed.
“Please brothers and sisters, if they tell you to do something, do it,” said Quanell. “When the suspect started being combative or argumentative, I want to pull my gun.”
“Hard times create strong men. Strong men create good times. Good times create weak men. And, weak men create hard times.”

His eyes aren't opened he just has a new angle to twist. In the future it will be the police should not carry as going for the gun is too easy and does not make them think of other means to handle the situation. Sorry just being a negative ninny here.

I think that it will be impossible for him to make that argument when his own words are forever on the Internet. He tries that, and someone can just throw his own words back at him. I think this is a long overdue tool for police.

Critic: "Yer doin' it wrong!"
Cops: "Fine come on over and we'll put you through some life-like exercises so you can better understand how things work."
Critic: "We are doing it wrong. Listen to the cops."

This kind of exercise can't be that expensive to implement for most departments.

We did several scenarios such as this in our Sheriff citizen's academy. Everyone of us had our eyes opened.

I shot the crazy guy that attacked my partner which was much smaller than the attacker. When we patted him down, he had a knife in his waistband and was on PCP.

The deputies quickly pointed out while that I was in for quite the ride through the press ringer.

I bet they could charge people for the experience and turn it into a money maker.

That's the second protester that has responded that way. Think the light bulbs will go on in police departments all over the country?

:iagree:

After years of IDPA, I went through the simulator as part of the Citizens' Police Academy and shot a TV, a couch, a person (who had not drawn the gun YET) and another person who was not going to draw a gun. I only took four shots, and gave up.

You should apply for the NYPD.

We'll just have to wait and see what his response is to the next police police shooting.
