Another Man Purse???

First, I am not associated with this company. I am running out of room in my pockets and don't want to wear "I'm carrying a gun" vests, fanny packs or tactical pants. My daily dress is slacks and button up. I struggle with how to handle all of my "stuff" even without worrying about CCW. I came across this today.

Does anyone know anything about the "man pack"? Link is http://www.man-pack.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. I, personally, am not a fan of "off the body" carry. But, I've considered using a "murse" so I could carry my non-important stuff in a bag along with my important stuff on my body. With laptops, knives, flashlights, cell phones, tablets, office keys, personal keys, etc., my pockets are full.

My personal preference is carry weapons on the body. Anything I can "afford" to lose in a separate bag. I find flashlights to be a challenge, since they scream "Is that a flashlight in your pocket or are you just glad to see me?"

Does anyone have experience with this bag? I've watched the videos, including the Shark Tank episode. But since I cannot put my hands on one, I am leery. But this looks like the closest thing to a "murse" I would consider.

I to wear slacks/dockers and a jacket. I use a Sneaky Pete, and it goes great with that clothing. Don't know about all you other stuff tho.

I carry my gun, wallet, phone and keys on me. Anything else goes into one of these.

If you google "EDC packs" or "EDC bags" you'll get a lot of results. I see a lot of conservatively dressed people carrying one these days. It is particularly common in IT, where the bearer will also have perhaps a laptop or iPad or something similar in there, not to mention other accessories (power supply, external storage drives, etc.) - but without the pack being too big and being more discreet. A lot of these kinds of bags have compartments intended for gun carry. A lot of them are "sling bags", meaning they are carried slung across your shoulders with a single strap. Some are more "tactical" in appearance than others, but it seems to me that your purposes call for something less tactical looking.

I'm actually on the market for a sling bag myself for EDC use........not so much for gun carry as I prefer on-body carry, but because I often need to carry a laptop and accessories to go see a client, and the "Swiss Army" backpack I currently use is actually too large and obvious.

Good sling bags have the advantage of being able to be used administratively while still slung. You can access the gun (and other items) by simply rotating the pack around to the front while still slung. Not many people actually use commuter trains and buses (compared to car drives), but such a pack can remain slung on your body for security while still allowing you to sit all the way back in the seat. And it if is small enough, it will fit across your front while driving - giving you access to the gun.

Hazard4 is another company whose products I'm looking at. Maxpedition makes similar products. Most of these companies offer a version of their product in plain black rather than FDE or camo.

Just a thought.

Lots of good information about sourcing a product. TAM's comment about color in the previous post prompts me to comment on that subject. For travel and special event activities I use Maxpedition products in black. They are not lined so what's on the outside is what's inside. Trying to find an item inside a black 'man purse' is like looking for a black cat in a coal mine. The reason your EDC light is hanging on the outside is so you have it immediately available to find something on the inside.

Good luck with your search. Man purse is like finding a good holster. It takes awhile...

Yes, certainly, if you have to have a lot of "stuff" for your work/job you need to be able to transport it efficiently, but I see a lot of guys who don't "need", but simply "want" to tote around an inventory of "stuff" that could be lightened.

At one point, I too carried a long inventory of stuff (my pockets/belt bulged) and then one day, I finally decided "whoa", what am I doing with all this unnecessary junk and pared back to what is really essential.

My life became simpler.

They make bags that are lined with steel mesh to prevent thieves from cutting through and removing items (and you can lock that back to some fixed object if not carrying it), and they also sell just plain steel mesh "bags" that you can put over existing bags to secure them to objects and help prevent theft.

The bags are made in various configurations, e.g. luggage, sling bags, backpacks.

I'd like to have a soft rifle case made like this.

I actually bought my first "man bag" because my back hurt from carrying on my belt sometimes. It's flaw is that it is A) too tactical looking, and B) it's too small. The curious thing about "too small" is that it's not so much that I always need a lot of capacity, but rather that I've got hams for hands, and if the bag is too small, it gets harder for me to get access to parts of it - particularly the gun compartment. The opening has to be large enough to comfortably fit my hand through without having to fuss with it. Also, it is too small to carry stuff I actually do need to carry if I am heading out to a client's location - stuff like laptop, notepads, storage drives, etc. So in that context, a larger pack like the one above would be good for me. Big enough, without being TOO big.

It's rugged as heck and holds a ton of stuff including all my computer stuff and photography stuff..... in fact, I use it as my carry-on bag when I fly..... but it is too big for EDC use.

Whoever it was above who said that finding a good bag is like finding the right holster was right.

Great info. Like TAM i don't particularly want my weapon in the bag. but my stuff consists of a knife, flashlight, home keys, work keys, spare mag, phone (note 4 so its big), and Surface Pro 3 plus chargers, etc. i have a back pack (High Sierra Costco $40) that works well when I travel and have my headphones, passport, etc to also carry but its way too big for edc carry. It doesn't look like a military backpack but definitely not dressy either. Nice blend so I can use it for business or pleasure. When I need something more professional looking, I default to one of my old briefcases.

I like the ideas here and will look into others. I never thought to search for EDC bag. I looked for other terms that were far less masculine sounding and got far less masculine results.

This might be a bit large for what most of you are talking about, but I have it on my wish list. A couple years ago I began carrying so much paperwork to and from work and associated items that I went to an actual briefcase.
