Fort Worth Gun Show

Post by KRM45 »

I went to the show this morning. Posted 30.06 as expected... I question the enforceablity in a city owned complex, but that is another discussion

There was a pretty good crowd and a lot of the major wholesale type gun shops. There were many AR style lowers to be found, both stripped and assembled.

It seems like the only thing I see worth buying these days are new guns from the discount guys, or bulk reloaded ammo.

I didn't buy anything, but I did enjoy looking.

MrsFosforos and I just got back from there. I bought a used Mossberg 500 and a Streamlight flashlight. Got a delay on the NICS for the shotgun, which was expected since I'm a resident alien, but the dealer is not too far from me, so I can go pick it up next week.

Another reason to get that CHL in hand: no NICS!

There was a guy in the parking lot when we got there, putting leaflets on windshields. He said to Mr Fosforos, "Can I give you this, my father is running for president". He said his father is pro-gun, pro second ammendment and said thanks and went on his way.

My daughter was with us and said to me - "President of what?"... I shrugged.

The flyer he handed Mr Fos was for Ron Paul. I have to admit, I've heard his name but never knew much about him as a politician.

It was sort of weird. It reminded me of the days when Jimmy Carter went campaigning on the streets, meeting regular people.

And we all know how that turned out.

Well, I didn't mean that to spark a political debate - I just thought it was just unconventional to "meet" a candidate's family member in person.

I was just making an observation nothing more.

No matter which side of the political spectrum you are on, Ron Paul aint no Jimmy Carter for sure.
Jimy Carter was the worst voting mistake I ever made.

I think that it's neat that his son was at the gun show. Kinda funny I agree. I wonder if he travels around to different gun shows in the state?

Now that we are sufficiently OT.

I've had to stay away from the gun shows recently. I've bought too much stuff in the last couple of months.

Back on topic: President Ron Paul will make sure ATF (if it even continues to exist in his administration) never hassles dealers, buyers, or guests at gun shows.

Re: Fort Worth Gun Show

Post by cxm »

I went to the Ft. Worth show this morning... and also questioned the legality of the 30.06 posting.

Had a pleasant discussion with a FWPD sergent who was checking guns... he told me it was legal because the promoter rented the space. I pointed out the 05 Legislature had made it illegal for gov owned property to be posted (with the noted exceptions) he told me that had changed in the just ended legislature... Oh well... he was pleasant... he was just not honest. :???:

I guess I have to write to the Ft. Worth City attorney and point out the violation of the law... see if that produces any results.

I'll post the reply when/if it comes.
