Springfield Armory has a very good reputation for customer service. Here is a story about a man who bought a new Springfield 1911, only to have it fall from his backpack while riding his motorcycle 20 minutes later! The thread has pictures of the gun before and after Springfield worked on it. I think they charged him something like $150!
If you don't want to read the entire 12 page thread, you can see the before and after photos on page 9 or 10. Some of the posters are using language that doesn't meet our "10 year old daughter rule" standard, so be forewarned.

I have nothing but great things to say about Springfield's cutomer service. They even reimbursed me for shipping when I had some problems early on with my EMP. They replaced the slide re-fit everything and it has been flawless since.
The funny thing about it is I was having a problem with two companies pistols at the same time. They both took care of the problem in the end but Springfield took care of evrything on the first try (and was wonderful to work with) when the other pistol (not going to mention the mfr. name) had to go back twice. In the process I inadvertently influenced a contract for a major northern metropolitan area police department when I relayed my accolades for SA and the CS dept. and my woes with the other company to a very good friend of mine. He and I are childhood friends and one of his good friends is a member of a SWAT team for said city. It just so happens that that this officer has a great reputation and the ear of the chief who promptly removed one of two companies from the running for thier new service pistol. It just goes to show how important customer service is and that sometimes you never how your actions can effect your business through referrals.
