I have three of them and my wife one... all I can say is they are absolutely great...

The little 9c compact is a great shooter, most natural pointing gun I have ever owned... I just can't seem to miss with it...

All of them have been 100% reliable over quite a few thousand rounds...

I like them a LOT... the optional thumb safety is icing on the cake to make them magnitudes safer than a glock.

All the complaints I have heard about them has been third hand... sort of "I just got word from a guy who heard from a fellow in the know" type stuff.

Judging by the s/n of my wifes new M&P they must have made over 170,000 of them since last year... and you hear few if any complaints from the actual owner of the guns... which isn't bad at all.

On top of that my wife gets a free S&W range bag for buying the gun and two free S&W magazines... makes the gun a great deal.

FWIW

I have both the full sized and compact in the 9mm and agree 100% with everything you stated, except the above.

Only the .45 has an optional thumb safety, to the best of my knowledge. I'd like to see one for the other models, but have not heard that S&W is coming out with one. They do offer a mag release safety and an internal lock as options.

Is someone doing a third party mod?
