AR, just like my old one.

Post by sookandy »

I have a couple of other AR's but I always wanted one like I carried. Had to be a 20" A2. I have been looking for a long time. I built a lower thinking I could just find an upper. No luck. I stumbled across this one last week online. My "old school" load out is complete. Old being a relative term. Too bad it doesn't have the 3 round burst. :lol:

Very nice rifle. I had read that the military was looking to get rid of the three round burst trigger for a more consistent pull and accuracy. I think they are going to keep full auto as a selection.

The original M-16, as carried during Vietnam, is the hardest to duplicate. The barrel is much easier to find now than it was some years back, but the old triangle hand guards are like hens teeth.

Nice looking rifle.

Hmmm, might be something worth looking for in another rifle. Going old school.

Might look here for the handguards: http://www.uscoreplicas.net/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

No affiliation with them; I just did a Google search and they popped up immediately.

CDNN in Abilene (TX) used to sell complete A1 uppers that were originals - I was told. I saw one but sadly I never bought one. There are also original A1 handguards on Gunbroker, but they go for more than the CDNN uppers used to sell for.

One of my favorite ARs is my 20" A2, just like yours.

That's a neat web site. I'd really like that M-60 replica, but gosh... a non-firing replica for almost $1.2K? Argh!

I'm tempted to order a set to have on hand for future use.

I have a couple of others that I have done just that to. But nothing ever did it for me like the one I carried. Not sure why the right side always gets cut off.
