I had to keep my life straight to get my CHL and I had to keep my life straight to keep my CHL. I think all others should to. I agree with A-R.

Guy I know was jammed up on two felonies for distribution of (crack) cocaine >2oz and aggravated assault (for stomping a rival dealer). He kept his CHL because the convictions were out of state and I guess Texas didn't see them. He wanted to renew, but CHL expired while he was still in prison. Maybe he can reapply when he gets out.
If everything you wrote is true, your friend should never be allowed a CHL (or probably a gun period) again. Sorry to be harsh, but people who do such things simply should not enjoy certain rights and privileges.
Just another casualty of the war on drugs, man...
I think Scott is being facetious in making his point.

I think his real best bet would be to decide once and for all, dope or gun - not both.

I thought that I'd agreed with the above yesterday along with raising a question about the validity of some of these eligibility questions....apparently not?

Maybe I didn't express that right. I apologize Oldgringo. I guess what I was trying to say is I don't think a person on drugs should be walking around with a weapon. We all had to conform to the law to get and keep our CHL.

No apologies needed, Skip, I totally agree with you. Walking around with a weapon demands a sense of responsibility and a degree of maturity apparently not possessed by all.
