Unusual 30.06 Location

Post by RossA »

Today I went to visit a friend who checked himself into an addiction treatment hospital. I want to be sure to support him in making this positive step in his life.
The facility has a guard post at the front of the driveway, and you have to check in before driving into the parking lot.
Since this is a sort of "hospital", I expected to see a 30.06 sign at the door. However, there at the guard post, before you ever even enter the parking lot, was a big ol' 30.06 sign.
Anyone ever see anything like this? I expect to see them at building entrances, but not at property entrances?
What is the legality of enforcing this?
Maybe others have encountered this before, but it was new to me.
Thanks
God and the soldier we adore,
In times of danger, not before.
The danger gone, the trouble righted,
God's forgotten, the soldier slighted.

It's not unheard of. Some amusement parks do the same thing.

As to the legality, the 30.06 wording refers to the "property" (not "premises") so the parking lot would be covered. However, as long you are in the car, you are not carrying under Subchapter H, Chapter 411, and so 30.06 does not apply. Just don't exit the car with your firearm.
Range Rule: "The front gate lock is not an acceptable target."

I wouldn't worry about it. As long as it stays in the vehicle it should be covered under the MPA.
