Non CHL Carry question

As I wait for this long drawn out process to get my CHL. They are telling me it will be another 6 to 8 weeks due to back log. What is the law about having a handgun in a car? Right now I keep it locked up in the house. I feel it is a mute point having it sometimes.

didnt your instructor :rules: explain the motorist protection act ? MPA

Yes he did, but just wanted more clarification as he did not go into detail.

Texas Statue PC 46.02 does not prohibit a motorist to carry a pistol in their auto, if they are not prohibited from owning the gun. But it MUST be concealed. For the particular statute, see:
